This groundbreaking project boldly showcases the innovative use of Lutyens bricks for the Brise Soleil, alongside our former Macquarie single skin range, ingeniously employed as both a structural and insulative facade. Notably, Portarlington House marked a pioneering milestone as the inaugural project in Victoria to embrace this revolutionary materiality and form, embarking on a journey of exploration into novel approaches to functionality and performance through facade and paving experimentation.
At the heart of Portarlington House's design narrative lies the utilization of Lutyens bricks to craft a hit and miss facade treatment, a technique that transcends mere aesthetics to manipulate light and shadow with masterful precision. The limestone-infused Lutyens bricks, meticulously patterned throughout the courses, seamlessly integrate with the structural blockwork, thereby harmonizing the facade with the overarching principles of passive solar design.
