Prahran House

In close collaboration with Adam Kane Architects and TCM Building Group, our team embarked on a transformative journey to integrate our signature Lutyens bricks into the fabric of the Prahran Project.

While the utilisation of these bricks in walling and flooring applications was familiar territory, their adaptation for roofing presented novel challenges and opportunities.

Partnering with Brickclad, we innovatively cast bricks engineered for precision cutting, significantly reducing weight by over 60% per square metre while minimising wastage. Prior to brick cladding, meticulous attention was devoted to waterproofing and the installation of a concealed stainless steel gutter system, ensuring seamless water management and drainage. Custom slanted bricks were then crafted to elegantly transition the walling into the roof pitch from multiple elevations, realising the project's design vision.

This collaborative endeavour epitomised a synergy of ingenious design, meticulous engineering, and skilled craftsmanship on site. The recycled materiality of the Lutyens bricks envelops the entire front facade, simultaneously concealing the interior splendour while intriguing viewers with its architectural allure.
