Through precise material customisation, the project showcases how thoughtful craftsmanship can shape a built environment that responds to and reflects its landscape.
Solis is an exploration of custom masonry, pushing the boundaries of materiality and form. The project began with the development of a bespoke colour blend, seamlessly integrating three distinct brick tones to create depth and connection to the surrounding landscape.
Beyond colour, Solis investigates radial masonry profiles, employing a combination of standard curved bricks alongside semi-curved and semi-straight forms to achieve uninterrupted brick returns. Custom header course bricks were also designed to cap the 310mm cavity walls following the profile throughout the curved and raked balustrades.
This project stands as a masterclass in collaboration, demonstrating how architects, builders, and fabricators can work together to refine masonry applications and elevate the built environment through thoughtful material innovation.
