Anthrosite Architects have thoughtfully explored the versatility of masonry throughout this project, integrating bricks as functional and textural elements across multiple applications.
Swansea Heads House exemplifies a refined curation of materiality and design, seamlessly integrating architecture with its coastal surroundings. The project consists of two carefully positioned pavilions, joined to frame uninterrupted ocean views while maintaining a sense of spatial flow and separation.
The front pavilion houses the kitchen, lounge, and office nook, leading to a transitional hallway that bridges the living spaces with the private sleeping quarters. This connection is softened by an open courtyard, creating a moment of pause between the two volumes. Expansive glazing throughout the front pavilion allows for layered views—from the bedrooms through the living spaces and out to the vast ocean beyond—reinforcing a constant dialogue between architecture and landscape.
This project is a testament to thoughtful spatial planning, where materiality and form are carefully composed to enhance both function and experience.
